Russian court upholds conviction of Muslim teens
The Supreme Court on Wednesday upheld the terrorism conviction of five Muslim teenagers accused of plotting to disrupt a central Russian city's millennial celebration last year, a local news agency reported
Rights activists and relatives have condemned the court proceedings against the five, saying they were being framed.
RIA-Novosti said the high court rejected the defendants' appeal of their conviction by the Supreme Court in the largely Muslim region of Tartarstan, which sentenced them to prison terms ranging from five-and-a-half to six years.
Court officials could not be reached immediately for comments.
