France: Schoolgirl Stoned In Playground For Not Observing Ramadan

With a hat-tip to reader Peter C, a truly horrific sign of the times comes from Lyon in the south of France, where a schoolgirl was stoned by Muslim students on Wednesday (October 4), for not following Ramadan. France-Echos reports on the incident, which is described in today's edition of Le Progres a paper serving the Lyon, Villeurbanne and Caluire-et-Cuire region

This is a translation of the France-Echos report:

A schoolgirl was stoned on Wednesday in playground

For non-observance of Ramadan

According to information given by Michèle Vianès, from the Regards de Femmes organization:

The information that I gave Thursday from our cafe Regards de Femmes is in Le Progres today.

A schoolgirl of Jean Mermoz college in Lyon's eighth arrondissement (postal district) was pelted with stones on Wednesday morning in the playground because she ate a snack. The argument that the incident stemmed from the non-observance of Ramadan is confirmed by the Lyon prosecutor's office, based on initial results from its investigation.

Azzedine Gaci, president of the CRCM (Regional Council for the Muslim Religion) , states that "if the facts are proven, they are unacceptable". He deplores the ignorance of the pupils, who should be taught the Koran at school, and who are unaware that "women who are not feeling well" * are exempted from observing Ramadan.

Without other commentaries for today, I will keep you updated

Michèle Vianès

The front cover of Le Progres (here, in pdf, but not yet on its online site) states:

Ramadan fast: A college girl attacked

The attack happened in a recreation moment in the playground of Jean-Mermoz (Lyon 8th). Pupils of the third grade threw stones at an adolescent. The principal of the college said it was a simple incident, not premeditated. But for its side, the Prosecutor's Office of Lyon confirmed in the first stages of an inquiry that this this act could have been linked to the victim not observing the ramadan fast. The incident has provoked strong emotion in the education community.

The story continues on page 7 of the printed edition, which I do not have access to at present. Hopefully on Monday, today's edition will be online and I will update this story.

* Means literally "indisposed", or "out of sorts", and probably is a euphemism for her "time of the month".

A 6-year-old girl was found dead in a motel room with a broken back Monday after what police said may have been an exorcism. Two adults were arrested after they and two children were spotted on the street naked in the freezing cold.
The adults, who had been staying in the motel room, were charged with cruelty to children, public indecency and obstruction of police and were taken to a psychiatric ward.

Police said the girl had been brutalized and suffered a broken back and other broken bones. An autopsy was planned.

Based on what the adults told authorities, investigators believe "they were involved possibly in a ritual of some sort,'' police spokesman John Quigley said. "It may have had something to do with undemonizing the child in some manner.'' [AP]

This isn't the only case of this type, not by a long shot.

If we're going to go by the stats, I'd say we have a lot more to fear from Jesus than the devil.

I think there are a lot more Christian fanatics than Muslims of any stripe to worry about.

For starters, I suppose by rights you'd have to include the Branch Davidian kids. They alone would be a far worse Christian children's death count than any possible made up Muslim abuses you could dream up.

The Muslims did not shadow box during the Crusades. Nor did they 'settle' much of the world with the Bible in one hand and a gun in the other, destroying most of the people in those countries as they spread Christianity. Christianity is likely more blood-soaked than Islam. And, I am not saying that as a partisan since I'm not a religious person.

Christianity is far from innocent

Sinful people of all types have commited crimes against humanity. That's history.
However, there is a difference in the teachings of Christianity vs. Islam. Jesus never taught violence; He was against it. Muhamed taught non-coercion first because he thought people would accept his message. When they didn't, then he changed to using force. That's why bin Laden and others quote the Quran. It's there, read it for yourself. If you really study history carefully, you find the latter imposed a religious "pax roma".

According to the christian dogma you can rob, steal, lie, even murder,or rape, and it is all paid for by the blood of christ so what is the incentive to cease evil deeds?

2 Timothy 2:10 Therefore I endure all things for the elect's sakes, that they may also obtain the salvation which is in Christ Jesus with eternal glory.

Islam holds the human being responsible for their actions,by teaching us to fear the day of judgement,a day when Our actions determine our fate,we must chose salvation by obeying Gods laws:

"The day will come when every soul will serve as its own advocate, and every soul will be paid fully for whatever it had done, without the least injustice." ( Quran 16:111).
