Christians Under Attack

Aleemuddin Mohammed is charged with trafficking into the UK for exploitation, and sexual assault on a female, relating to the investigation of an alleged victim of human trafficking, sexual assaults and actual bodily harm from Hyderabad in India.

The 35-year-old defendant, of Sefton Avenue, appeared at Croydon Crown Court in Croydon, south London, on Friday last week for a plea and case management hearing after the case was transferred in from Southwark Crown Court in June.

However, pleas were not taken, the case was adjourned and like the others, Mohammed is due back at Croydon Crown Court on December 7 for a second plea and case management hearing.

His co-defendants are:

■ Shamina Yousuf, a 32-year-old secretary of Pavillon Way, Edgware, who faces charges of trafficking into the UK for exploitation and causing actual bodily harm;

■ Shashi Kala Obhrai, 54, an optician of Pembroke Road, Moor Park, Hertfordshire, who was charged with trafficking within the UK for exploitation, causing actual bodily harm and making threats to kill;

■ Balram Kumar Obhrai, 58, a computer entrepreneur of Pembroke Road, Moor Park, Hertfordshire, has counts of trafficking into the UK for exploitation and making threats to kill;

■ Shanaz Begum, 56, a shopworker of Chalbert Street, St John’s Wood, north-west London, who will plea on charges of trafficking into the UK for exploitation and trafficking within the UK for exploitation, and

■ Enkarta Balapovi, 53, a butcher of Chalbert Street, St John’s Wood, faces one count of trafficking within the UK for exploitation and five of rape.

All six were arrested and charged in May by the Metropolitan Police.
