Prelate laments desecration of churches in Cyprus
Speaking at Communion and Liberation’s annual meeting in Rimini, Italy, the primate of the Orthodox Church of Cyprus discussed the
desecration of churches in northeastern Cyprus, which has been under Turkish military occupation since 1974.
Archbishop Chrysostomos II said that 120 churches have become mosques, museums, or storage facilities and that Turkey is attempting to eliminate Christianity in the area.
