Gang rape accused to face trial

674197-muslim-conference.jpgThree Shepparton men have pleaded not guilty to the alleged gang rape of a 21-year-old Bendigo woman in central Victoria last year.

A committal hearing ended yesterday for Mohammad Elnour, 19, Akoak Manon, 19, and Mohammad Zaoli, 22.

They are accused of repeatedly raping a woman in her Flora Hill home, after meeting her at a local nightclub.

The seven-day hearing at the Bendigo Magistrates Court heard from 18 witnesses, including the alleged victim, forensic doctors and police.

The court was shown mobile phone footage of the alleged attack.

The trio are each facing 18 charges of rape and assault and all pleaded not guilty at the end of the hearing.

The magistrate ordered them to stand trial at the County Court in Bendigo.

Elnour and Manon had their bail extended but Zaoli has been remanded in custody, facing charges over several separate matters.

They are due to return to court in May.
