Mosque hosts Islamic courses for Catholic teachers

Educational courses on Islamic principles will be held for teachers of Catholic schools in Tourcoing, north of France.

(AhlulBayt News Agency) - Educational courses on Islamic principles will be held for teachers of Catholic schools in Tourcoing, north of France.

Sunna Mosque, the oldest mosque in the city will host the courses which have been planned following the request made by a group of teachers in three Catholic schools who expressed interest in learning about Islam.

Due to the presence of Muslim students in these schools, the teachers believe it is necessary for them to know about Islamic teachings.

In a meeting with some of the Catholic teachers, Rachid Sahri, head of the Islamic institute in Roubaix said that Muslims and Christians believe in one God, though there are various individual viewpoints in religious issues.

He noted that teaching Islamic principles to the teachers in Catholic schools is a great step towards promotion of the culture of dialogue among religions
