CBS' Lara Logan Hospitalized: "Brutal Sexual Assault" in Egypt
CBS News is reporting that its correspondent in Egypt, Lara Logan, is in the hospital after what appears to have been a disturbing attack in Cairo.
Logan was in Tahir Square after Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak stepped down on Friday, when a mob of some 200 people surrounded her, her production crew, and their security team.
In a statement, CBS said Logan got separated from her crew in the crush of people, and she suffered "a brutal and sustained sexual assault and beating." She was eventually saved by a group of women and about 20 Egyptian soldiers.
She returned to the United States on Saturday and is at an undisclosed hospital here.
According to the Committee to Protect Journalists, Logan is one of at least 140 correspondents who have been injured or killed while covering the unrest in Egypt.
