AP acid attack: Victims' dreams shattered
Three men who allegedly threw acid on two engineering college girls at Warangal in Andhra Pradesh have been killed in what the police claim to be an encounter.
But what about their victims, the two final year engineering students, who are battling on against huge odds?
One of the victims of the acid attack is undergoing treatment in a Secunderabad hospital.
"She is a very brave girl. She has a very positive attitude. That is one of the few things that could pull her through,'' said Dr Srinagesh, duty doctor on one of the victims.
The medical report is bleak. It's the spirit to put up a fight that will hopefully see the 21-year-old come out of the acute medical care ward of the hospital. The girl suffered 55 per cent third degree burns after being attacked with acid on Thursday evening.
The final year engineering student showed immense courage and refused to be cowed down, even when she was hounded and threatened with acid attack. She remained focused on getting her engineering degree and a job so that her dreams and her family's dreams could come true.
"She has lost both her eyes. She is so young. She has a long life ahead. What will be her future, you tell me,'' said K Devender, father of acid attack victim.
In another Hyderabad hospital, another 21-year-old who suffered 40 per cent burns in the same attack is recovering. She had an offer letter to join an IT major soon after graduating.
"She had so many dreams. She wanted to go abroad, pursue an MBA degree, get a good job. She was looking forward to a very bright future,'' said Subashini, mother of acid attack victim.
