Nigeria's the place for Islamic ringtones

1851ad3852090cda81c6c5dcfb4705b5.jpgMuslim mobile phone owners in Nigeria have been urged to "go express your faith" by downloading a range of Islamic ringtones.

AFP press agency has reported that religious chants such as Allah's Care have been made available by South African mobile provider MTN.

Also in ringtone form for the first time are Allah's Exaltation, Prayer for Guidance and Prayer for Humility.

Those willing to pay 200 naira (€1.16) can make Prayer against Poverty the tune that alerts them to incoming calls.

MTN is also catering for the Christian market with a funky disco beat remix of Silent Night.

In the US Sony BMG music entertainment is reporting brisk sales of ringtones such as Elvis Presley's Blue Christmas, released to mark the 30th anniversary of 'the King's' death. Frank Sinatra's Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow! is also selling well while Jose Feliciano's Feliz Navidad and South Park's frankly disturbing O Holy Night are proving festive favourites.

Last year's bestseller, Mariah Carey's All I Want for Christmas is You, is currently the highest charting Yuletide-related release on the Billboard chart – occupying the number three position
