Spaniard hurt in Yemen bomb dies

f6ab2daa834c86df973d4decf30b6457.jpgA Spanish woman injured during a suicide bomb attack targeting a tourist convoy in Yemen earlier this month has died in hospital.

The death of Maria Asuncion Vitorica, 50, brings the total number of people killed in the suicide blast to 10.

The 2 July attack, at the Queen of Sheba temple in Marib, was among the worst in Yemen since 2000.

An explosives-laden vehicle entered the site, ploughed into the convoy of tourist cars and exploded.

Two Yemenis were also killed in the blast.

The body of Mrs Vitorica, who was being treated in a hospital in the capital, Sanaa, is expected to be transferred back to Spain on Saturday.

Yemeni officials have said that their security forces killed an Egyptian behind the attack, Reuters reports.

The country has also offered a reward of $75,500 (£37,000) for information on the militants who carried out the bombing.

Yemen has faced continuing unrest in recent years, which the government often blames on al-Qaeda operatives.
