3 Buddhists killed, one injured by Islamic insurgents in Songkhla

Songkhla - Two married couples were ambushed by Muslim insurgents on their way to their rubber plantation early Monday morning, resulting in three deaths and one injury


The couples were cut down in a gunfire by an unknown number of insurgents at 2:10 am on a village road in Tambon Pian of Saba Yoi district.

Only one of the four, Niwas Promsuk, survived and was sent to Khokpho Hospital in Pattani.

His wife, Wannee Promsuk, died at the scene along with the other couple, identified as Nom Jandam and his wife Sudjai Jandam.

The attack in Songkhal followed two other drive-by shootins in Yala and Pattani.

A 33-year-old Muslim was gunned down in a drive-by shooting late Sunday as she rode a motorcycle home in Yala, police said.

In Pattani, a 46-year-old Buddhist man was also killed in a drive-by shooting late Sunday.
