3 killed outside US embassy in Syria
DAMASCUS, Syria - Islamic militants attempted to storm the US Embassy in a brazen attack Tuesday using automatic rifles, hand grenades and at least one van rigged with explosives, the government said
Three assailants and a member of Syria's anti-terror squad were killed in a shootout Tuesday during the attempt to storm the embassy, which came just a day after the fifth anniversary of the September 11 attacks on the United States in 2001.
The assailants apparently did not breach the high walls surrounding the white embassy compound in a diplomatic neighborhood of Damascus. But a Chinese diplomat was slightly injured by a stray bullet during the attack, China's government news agency said. At the embassy in Damascus, as at most American embassies worldwide, a local guard force patrols outside the compound's walls while US Marine guards are mostly responsible for guarding classified documents and fighting off attackers inside the compound.
Witnesses also said the gunmen tried to throw hand grenades into the embassy compound, shouting "Allah Akbar!" or "God is great!" It was not clear if any of the grenades made it over the walls, which are about 8 feet high.
The attack came at a time of high tension between the United States and Syria over the recent Israeli-Hezbollah war in neighboring Lebanon, and a time of high anti-American sentiment in Damascus.
Syria has seen previous attacks by Islamic militants. In June, Syrian anti-terrorism police fought Islamic militants near the Defense Ministry in a gunbattle that killed five people and wounded four.
After Tuesday's attack, pools of blood lay splattered on the sidewalk outside the embassy, along with a burned car apparently used by the attackers. A sports utility vehicle with US diplomatic tags had a bullet hole through its front window, and the glass windows of nearby guard houses also were shattered.
There were conflicting reports of what happened.
Syrian TV said one car was rigged with explosives but never was detonated by the attackers. But one witness said a second car did explode, and TV footage from the scene showed a burned car.

When Muhammed promised a village they would be spared he came later and killed them anyway. Why was that? he went back on his word. He said that satan made him say it (satanic verses). And since then people have used that excuse. Arafat used it when he made a peace deal with Israel (teh headlines in newspapers read: 14 Dec 1988 : PLO renounces terrorism and accepts Israel's right to exist) and then scurried (like the rodent faced rat that he was) to a mosque and justified his deal to the other muslim attendees by saying to them: "Muhammed peace be upon him did the same thing do not worry my faithful friends we have not given into them!" This is allowed in jihad --lying to the kafir and you know it. So your statements are pure lying Nazi like propaganda to fool some of the more naive westerners if possible. But people of all strips Agnostics, atheists, jews, christians, buddists,hindus, and everybody else is not fooled so easily . People are tired of living in fear of Muslim terror.

Hey "another_exchristian" just because you are a disgruntled "ex-christian" doesnt mean you should write whatever lies you want in order to show your distate for Christianity (ie calling Muhammad a "deeply spiritual" man?) Muhammed married many women and a little girl of 8 years old. Doesnt sound deeply spiritual to me. I became a buddhist a few years ago and when I did i learned what meditation and spirituality is (and I was a Muslim before). What you are supporting is a way of life (Islam) that will eventually mean the destruction of you guys in the West. I was one of them.

How old was Aisha when she was married?
The usual response has been that Aisha was post-pubescent at 9 and that such early marriages were an accepted practice in the Arabia of those days.
Marriage for young girls was widely practiced among Arabs back then,
and even today in many third-world non-Muslim and Muslim countries.
There is not one verse from the bible shows us what is the appropriate age for marriage. Simply there is nothing from the Old Testament nor the New Testament or any thing regarding this issue define the appropriate age for marriage.
People try to pervert the loving relationship that The Prophet Muhammad had with Ayesha, yet they ignore The present day filth of their own modern society. Why is this?

How do Muslims view other religions?
